Preparation for Genoa

It was a warm down training session for the players on Sunday who played in Saturday night’s 3-0 win over Lazio. The players who played at the San Siro worked out in the gym while the rest of the squad trained on the external pitch. The session started with a warm up with the ball with Robinho, Salamon, Muntari, Nocerino, Mexes, Antonini, Niang, Traoré and Zaccardo taking part in a keep-ball drill followed by a series of runs.

Daniele Bonera joined the main group and the players then spent some time working on possession where they could only take up to three touches and then finally as many touches as they needed. There was then a three against two attacking drill followed by a practice match where goalkeepers Amelia and Landucci took part. Training ended with Niang, Nocerino and Salamon doing some shooting practice with Amelia in goals. Mario Balotelli and Kevin Constant both trained according to what was planned in their individual training programmes. Friends of children tournament

The Hotel Boscolo B4 in Milan was the venue for the presentation of the ninth edition of the Friends of Children Tournament on Tuesday, February 26th. The event was hosted by the AIBI charity for homeless children which handed out awards to those who had supported their efforts.

The charity was established in 1986 and now operates in 28 countries worldwide to help less fortunate children who have been orphaned or abandoned. Amongst those receiving awards where Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani, the club’s under-17 coach Filippo Inzaghi and full-back Mattia De Sciglio.

Also present were Italy coach Cesare Prandelli and former Rossoneri goalkeeper Walter De Vecchi who is also a youth coach at the club. The event was also the unveiling of a youth tournament which will take place in Milan between 24 local teams.

Defending 3rd place

Milan will head to Genoa looking to defend third place which they regained from Lazio last weekend with their win over the Romans. The home side have seen their results improve since the arrival of new coach Davide Ballardini who replaced Luigi Delneri in January after Luigi De Canio had been sacked.

However, despite being on their third coach of the season the Rossoblu are still just outside the relegation zone following their defeat at Roma last week so they are in need of a positive home result. Massimiliano Allegri will have one eye on the Champions League tie at Barcelona and with Mario Balotelli unavailable for Europe the coach will hope to have his striker fit again for what promises to be a tough game at the Luigi Ferraris.
